Have you ever gone on a romantic vacation with a bunch of people you had never “officially” met before? No? Us either, but it turned out to be the best. Let me explain how it happened.
I’m a bit of a podcast junkie. One of my favorite things to do when I am driving or running, instead of listening to music is to listen to a podcast. I love hearing people’s insights, opinions, life stories, and learning things along the way. I usually listen to at least one a day, across various categories. I’ll try to write a post later on some of the others that I enjoy listening to.
Somewhere along the way I stubbled across the most fantastic marriage podcast called Marriage Is Funny (because it is). The podcast is put on by the hilarious but very real duo, Gerard and Jessie ‘Pepper.’ Where they proudly claim that “marriage is funny, and the right mix of love + laughter is the best recipe for a healthy relationship.” Each week they present each other with a topic they would like to discuss, and they talk about it for the first time right there in front of the mic. I love how raw and real their conversations are. I knew immediately that (should we ever get to meet outside of social media) we would have to be friends, and I was right. Seriously, jump on over to iTunes and subscribe to their weekly podcasts NOW!
When the two of them started talking about hosting a vacation which they were calling “The Great Love Getaway” with a few other couples in Puerto Vallarta, I was sold. Five days on the beach, making friends with 4 other fun-loving couples? Where do we sign up?!
So a couple weeks later, we packed up our bags and set off to stay in a house on the beach for a week with basically a bunch of strangers. I mean the worst that could happen would be we didn’t get along with some of the people, and in that case, we could just peace out and hang out by the beach ourselves and still have a great time. Not a problem. Luckily that didn’t happen though. After the first night together, I think everyone felt connected and we all knew without a doubt we were going to have a good time.
The next day we woke up, had breakfast and coffee together and spent the day lounging and splashing around the pool. We also had quite a treat getting to do a photoshoot with Kelly and Michelle ‘Dlux’ for their awesome Creative Marriages project! Can’t wait to see those photos!
Friday we spent the day at the beach and had a breath taking view of the sunset at dinner. And then that night, we came back and had the craziest dance party ever. Someone may or may not have split their pants from too much twerking. You can hear about it on the podcast episode, or catch a snippit in the video below.
Saturday we explored the town and came back to a fantastic dinner and sat down with Gerard and Jessie to do a live recording of the Podcast from our trip. You can listen to it here, we’re all very entertaining >> http://www.meetthepeppers.com/podcast/episode35
Sunday was full of big bear hugs, sappy goodbyes, and promises to see each other soon.
This was the best trip, and we have a new group of life long friends. Can’t wait to see you all again.
Watch the quick one minute video for a peak into the fun that we had.
