Some people call them ‘learning towers’, some call them ‘kitchen helpers’, either way, they can be quite expensive to just go out and buy. If you’ve ever looked up to purchase a learning tower for your child then you’ve found they can be $200 and beyond. I really wanted one for G because I’m WAY over holding him while I cook and do stuff in the kitchen and he so badly wants to be at my level and see what’s going on.
We’ve been using chairs but they’re just not tall enough for my child right now and he has come so close to falling off one-too-many times. I love that these learning towers and blocked on all sides so the child won’t fall out.
If you simply google “IKEA learning tower hack” you will find plenty of tutorials. So instead of reinventing the wheel, I thought I would just link up the exact tutorial we followed.
We followed THIS DIY Learning Tower post
$20 for the IKEA stool
$5 for a 6ft 1×2 piece of wood
$7 for a 6ft 1×3 piece of wood
a few bucks for some screws and this whole thing that could cost over $200 cost us less than $40!
You can buy the exact same thing on Etsy for $90 where people turned the IKEA stools into the learning towers.
Can’t wait to see what you all come up with. So far G seems to love it.
PIN IT for later:
Wow, this is impressive. This will probably take a whole day to build plus proper preparation. I am so proud of all of your hard work! making it safe for kids biggest thing.
