3 years ago • 2 Comments • baby, baby food, teething • 4

Starting Solids At 6 months: Baby Led Weaning or Purées??

3 years ago • 9 Comments • baby, baby food, Lifestyle • 8

When Griffin turned 6 months, I naturally turned to my friend Google to find out how to approach this whole “starting solids” thing. And OH MY WORD! My findings read like this: “You should start around 4 months. No, wait until 6 months so their digestion is best. Feed them rice cereal. Don’t you DARE feed them […]

Instagram post 2186012056201667280_584901748 FOUR MONTHS of loving on this little squish.
.
She rolls from belly to back all day long but won’t roll the other way yet.
.
Big brother’s daily songs for her make her smile the most.
.
Weighing in at 14lbs already.
.
She’s got mamas eyebrows for sure. They’re a blessing and a curse. For your sake, baby girl, I hope thick eyebrows stay in style. And I’ll start putting aside money for your every other week threading 🧵 appointment 💸. But you’ll never have to buy a single eyebrow pencil.
.
On this day 4 years ago, I was running a half marathon to tell my husband I was pregnant with G baby. .
Q: What’s one thing you’re glad came back in style or hope goes away forever?
i.e. thick eyebrows🙌👌 but I’m ok if the thick scrunchies stay away 👋

Instagram post 2177366283402544538_584901748 Name Activities!
.
Last week I did a story each day of an activity to do with your child to help them learn to start recognizing their name. They’re all saved in my highlights for you to go back and watch how we did them 🙂.
.
Do they have to know every letter of the alphabet to do this? Nope! G is 3.25 yr old here but we’ve been doing these since he was 2.5 .
1. Name Find: Write names on paper. Write child’s name multiple times. They can practice just finding their own name. Or, have them find and circle each family members name in a different color.
.
2. Pumpkin Name Hunt: write letters of their name on construction paper pumpkins (or leaves, or Christmas trees!), hide around the room for them to go find and then run back to match up. Only rules are they have to find the letters in order and can only get one at a time.
.
2. LEGO Name Building: write letters of their name on LEGO pieces for them to snap together. This is also fun for order kinds to practice building sight words, I used to do this in my first grade class.
.
4. Salty Letters: pour salt into a tray just enough to cover the bottom. Let hold use their fingers to practice drawing the letters and writing their name.
.
5. Hidden Message: write name with a white crayon on white piece of paper. Let your child paint over it with water color and the letters of their name will “magically” appear.
.
.
Q: Which ones have you tried? Which one do you want to do first? What name ideas would you add?
.
.
Tag a friend with a 2-5 year old who would enjoy trying these activities with their kiddo!
Instagram post 2167624906204585918_584901748 Yesterday was the last day we got to play with Kona.
.
She dug a hole under the fence and got out and got hit by a car.
.
We just went through this two months ago with our Lab, Turbo. He was 13 yo, lived a full doggy life and we knew his time was coming soon. It was hard but we were mentally prepared.
.
But with Kona, it was so unexpected. She was still young and so full of life. We thought we had so much time left with her. .
Trying to explain this all to G, yet again, has been absolutely heartbreaking. He would wake up in the morning and immediately go find her to play with her, and he always asked if she could sleep in his bed with him.
.
When we drove back up to the house last night the first thing G said to me was "Mommy, does Jesus have a ball in heaven?" "Yes, buddy Jesus has a ball. Why?" "Oh ok. For Kona. Jesus has a ball for Kona. That's good."
Instagram post 2166910823977288255_584901748 Have you ever tried to take a picture by yourself of a baby AND a toddler at the same time? Holy cow I worked up a sweat and have only these to show for it 🤪 I’m lucky I was even able to get these pictures of them alone 🤦‍♀️
.
For those of you that are able to get cute pictures of both your kids together this year I salute you. .
If their costumes confuse you swipe 👉 to see how they go together 🐉❤️🌮 .
“Did you know that dragons love tacos?...They love really big gigantic tacos and tiny little baby tacos as well.”
.
.
Q: Do your kiddos dress up? And do their costumes go together or stand alone?
.
.
For anyone who cares, I was supposed to be the spicy hot salsa but that didn’t happen 😂
Instagram post 2165702140656220687_584901748 Some days motherhood looks like getting everyone ready, drinking a hot cup of coffee and nursing a happy baby while your toddler does a play-based learning activity in the playroom all by himself.
.
And some days motherhood looks like this.
.
Some days your fussy baby projectile vomits all over you and her new outfit while the toddler is hiding in another room using scissors he found to cut his own hair and a hole in his new shirt.
.
But no matter the scenario, you . are . a . good . mom .
.
Whether you laughed more today, or cried more, YOU are a good mom.
.
Whether you fed your kids Mac and cheese for the 5th night in a row, or a three course meal of fruits and veggies and they are every bite, YOU are a great mom!
.
Whether you read 10 bedtime stories and cuddled until they fell asleep, or put them to bed early and just shut the door and walked away, YOU are the BEST mom for your kids.
.
And whether you handmade your halloween outfit a month ago, or just ordered it tonight, it doesn’t matter. You’re kids don’t know the difference. They just know that you are their mom and they love YOU more than anything in the world, no matter what.
.
.
Q: What kind of mom were you today?
